Accommodations: Foxes Safari Camp offers 12 guest tents around the rocky kopje overlooking the floodplain. The tents are on wooden platforms with thatched roofs, and each has a private verandah with sweeping views of the plains below, hot water, and cosy twin beds with mosquito nets. Up to 11 p.m., electricity is accessible. Services & Amenities: Foxes Safari Camp features a bar and eating area with an amazing view of the surroundings. Full English or continental breakfasts are available; lunch consists of a cold buffet and dessert; dinner consists of three courses served with tea and coffee. Vuma Hills Tented Camp
The permanent Vuma Hills Tented Camp is located atop Vuma Hill in the southern region of Mikumi National Park. Gazing upon the glittering plains of Mikumi, this camp provides an amazing vista of the lower regions encircling the hill upon which it is situated.
Accommodations: Vuma Hill offers sixteen roomy and cosy guest tents on a thatched wooden platform with a front wooden veranda for shade and a bathroom with a shower, washbasin and toilet at the back. Each of the mosquito-proof tents has a double and a single bed, and they are decorated with an evocative, old-fashioned colonial style. Each tent has lights and three pin square 220 V outlets. Power is supplied by a generator. The generator will run twice a day, from 6.30 to 11 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every water is heated by the sun.
Facilities & Services: The dining area, which serves a variety of exquisite meals made with fresh vegetables from the camp’s Highland farm, has a view of the swimming pool. When making a reservation, you should mention any particular dietary needs. Game drives are available at Mikumi National Park, and day trips for trekking and forest walks can be arranged to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, which is only an hour’s drive away.
