TSAVO NATIONAL PARK CLIMATE, CAMPING

Tsavo National Park Climate, Tsavo National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 13,747 square kilometers. The park is situated in a semi-arid area, the area is 13,747km2 (5,308 sq. mil). Tsavo National park was established in 1948.The Tsavo National park is known for providing undeveloped wilderness homes to vast numbers of animals the famous which are the lions.

The climate of Tsavo National Park.

The Tsavo national park climate has an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. The average rainfall received in a year is around 1037 mm going deep to 40.8 inches deep. Due to the climatic changes sometimes the rains can be lower than or even higher than that some years.

The Tsavo National Park location of the semi-arid area makes the nights and the early mornings are generally cold while the days are very hot, even during the winter time the days are very hot and the sun comes out early, and the clouds cover is less only heavily when it’s about to rain.it takes a short period of set and it rains and after the rain it becomes hot and sunny again.

Tsavo National park has got two different types of seasons in the year that is the wet and the dry seasons.

Wet Season-October to May.

October, November and December – October usually signals the beginning of the rains. November is the one of the wettest months of the year.

January and February- These months see a break between the short and the long rains.

March, April and May- The long rains usually begin in the late March.

Dry season.

The dry season starts from June to September and again later from December to February. The rainy months starts from March to June annually. The climatic conditions of Tsavo National park are both hot and dry climate though not throughout the year but a longer period of the year and as well knowing the rainy seasons and dry seasons which helps you to know the climatic patterns of the park thus enabling to the proper planning of your safari and makes you to travel at the right time.

Tsavo national park has two camping that is the public and the private camping, where the public camping here the camping sites for example like the Ndololo campsite   are shared with other campers from different groups, here you may not need to book in advance but make booking the time your reach the park here there is always enough space. Where as in the private camping for example the Galdessa campsite is well organized though you have to book in advance since they have small space for camping, you pay the camping fee alone excluding the conservation fees. In private camping the facilities are good and some are even private compared to the public camping where you have to have with the chef and in private camping they provide you with the food, where they consider the various diets of the guests.
