How weather affects your safari in Kenya : Kenya is a place to go on travel at any time of year on a safari. From June to October, when it is dry and there isn’t much water or greenery, it is busy. This is because animals gather around water sources, making them easy to find and see. But this is the busiest and most crowded time to go on Kenya safari, especially in Maasai Mara from the end of August to the end of October, when the Great Migration normally happens.
During this time, safaris are more expensive, and people are travelling all over Kenya on full safari rounds that include Meru, Lewa, Samburu, Laikipia, the Rift Valley lakes, and the coast, and can last as long as three months.
The rest of the year, when there is more rain, the plants are thick, green, and lush. Most animals have their babies during this time, and there aren’t many people in the wildlife areas. When prices go down, trips can be longer and more relaxed. But when it rains a lot, usually between April and May, roads and airstrips can’t be used, and some places have to close until the rain stops.
Most of the time, when you travel relies on what you want to see and what you like. The decision is clear for people who only want to see the Great Migration. Between June and November is a good time to see the Big Five for the first time. But anyone who wants to go on safari can travel at any time of the year. The wildlife, culture, and scenery are always there, and a real Kenyan safari is about experiencing them in the way that most appeals to you.
Even though Maasai Mara has amazing wildlife all year round, Great Migration is always a big draw for tourists. People say that the best time to see the Migration in Kenya is between June and October. This is also when water crossings are more likely to happen. But the Migration happens all year long, and big groups of wildebeest are likely to be seen at any time. Outside of busy season, there are a lot fewer people there, and when you do see something, it’s usually at your own pace.
Please keep in mind that the weather affects where the Migration goes and that it can change a lot from year to year. The animals move around depending on when the rains come, and they may go back and forth between the Serengeti and Maasai Mara several times in a cycle. If you want to travel specifically to see the Migration, it can be hard to know when it will happen, and hotels tend to fill up quickly during high season. For this reason, we suggest that you make plans well in advance. But no matter what time of year you go to the Maasai Mara, you’re sure to have an amazing time seeing wildlife there. Kenya is in the eastern part of the African continent. The Indian Ocean and the equator, which runs through the country, have a big effect on the weather there. Kenya has more than 300 miles of seashore and fine, white sand beaches. The weather is sunny all year, so the best time to go to Kenya depends on what you want to do. But it’s important to remember that the warm, wet monsoon winds that blow in from the Indian Ocean do change this usually equatorial climate.
Kenya’s weather.
Kenya is close to the equator, so its temperatures are very high all year long. During the summer (January and February), daytime temperatures range from 35°C to 40°C, while nighttime temperatures range from 25°C to 30°C. During the winter months, especially July and August, the average daytime temperature is 30°C to 35°C, and the average nighttime temperature is 20°C to 25°C. Kenya’s landscapes have a big effect on its temperatures, so these means are not a good way to describe its climate and weather.
Both the ocean and the area around Lake Victoria are hot and humid. This stretch of coast isn’t too hot or cold, but you should watch out for the heat. Further north, the weather is very hot and almost like a desert. The plateaus are about 60 miles from the coast and rise from 3280 feet to just over 9800 feet above sea level. So, in general, the weather here is a lot better. Temperatures are nice all year long, and the average daytime high in summer and winter is above 25°C. The nights are a little cooler, but still very nice, with temperatures averaging 20°C in the summer and 10°C in the winter. During the day, there is a big difference in temperature on the plateaus.
The last thing to know is that the sun rises and sets on time in Kenya. Since the country is on the equator, the sun rises between 6 and 6:30 in the morning and sets between 6:30 and 7:00 in the evening.
Kenya has a dry season and a wet season.
Kenya has clear dry and wet seasons because it is on the equator and close to the Indian Ocean. There are two main times when it is dry. The first one lasts from December to March, which is summertime in the country. From July to October, the country has its winter, which is also dry. In between, there are two times when it rains. The first wet season is longer and lasts from April to June. Between November and the middle of December, there is another, shorter rainy season. When going to Kenya during one of its dry seasons, it’s best to remember that January (summer) is the driest month to visit. In general, December to March is the hottest and driest time of year.
Not every wet season is the same in terms of how hard it rains. Rain generally starts out slow in April and gets steadily heavier until early May. After that, it gets lighter and lighter until it stops at the end of June. During the rainy season in Kenya, the sun which usually shines for 10 to 12 hours a day, quickly disappears and is replaced by big, dark clouds. Like most wet times in other countries at the same latitude, especially in Asia, the rain is very heavy, but it doesn’t last long. Most of the time, it only takes another 30 minutes after 30 minutes of heavy rain for everything to be dry again. These downpours can happen both during the day and at night. If you go to Kenya during the wet season, remember that the second half of June is usually much drier. On the other hand, May is Kenya’s most intense rainy season, with the most rain. Kenya has a lot of different temperatures because it has both dry and wet seasons. Since the country is so close to the equator, the weather is nice all year round. You can come at any time, even outside of the main tourist season (December to March), but the best weather is from June to September.
