Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will meet your company driver in Entebbe or Kampala and start the long journey to Murchison Falls National Park, with stops at major towns and roadside markets. The journey takes you through amazing Ugandan countryside and towns like Luwero.

Another stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to Uganda’s last remaining white rhinos and is the only place where tourists can spot white rhinos in the country. On foot with resident guides, you will see rhinos and learn about breeding program in place.

Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Masindi, then continue to the park and take you directly to the top of the Murchison Falls to enjoy beautiful views and photography. Head to the lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Nile Boat Cruise

Wake up early and take breakfast as you wait for your guide, head to the park for a morning game drive. Morning hours are a great time to spot several birds and early risers in the northern section of the park, lookout for animals like waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, lions, hyenas, impalas, elephants and buffaloes among others.

Then you will return to the lodge for lunch and rest as you wait for the afternoon boat cruise at the Nile, River Nile attracts most of the animals in the park hence the best place to see them. Along the boat cruise along the Nile, you will marvel at the Calm River and Murchison Falls, the boat cruise starts from downstream and goes upstream ending at the foot of the Murchison Falls. At this point everyone disembarks and climbs up to the top of the falls to finding waiting company driver.

Expect to see a lot of elephants, hippos, crocodiles and several water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park – Visit the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary

Wake up at leisure, have breakfast before checking out of your room. Embark on a journey to Kibae National Park, the journey takes you through amazing and unfamiliar terrain and spot remnants of the Great East African Rift Valley, farms, trading centers, towns, marks and forests.

Once you reach your lodge, you will check-in and take lunch if you did not have it along the way. Later in the afternoon, the driver will take you for a visit to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for bird watching and a visit to the nearby community.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early and head to the park headquarters for briefing, the park rangers will go through all the important topics relating to chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, you will learn about the forest and other creatures that thrive in it.

Once the briefing is done, you will enter into the forest to look for chimpanzees. Once you find them, watch as they play, groom each other, mate, swing on top of tree and make loud hoots. Once you locate them, you are allowed to spend one hour watching them play from one tree to another. You are allowed to take as many photos as possible, return to the park headquarters, meet your guide and head to the lodge for lunch.

Later checkout and embark on a journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, with en-route game drive you will head to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive – Boat ride at the Kazinga Channel

Wake up early and head to the park for a morning game drive searching for the park’s residents including lions, hyenas, elephants, warthogs, buffaloes and various kinds of antelopes. After the game drive, you will head back to the lodge for lunch and refreshments.

In the afternoon, you will go for a lunch cruise at the Kazinga Channel, a water channel that connects Lake George to Lake Edward. The channel attracts a variety of animals such as elephants and buffaloes which you will see congregate to drink and bath, also lookout for several bird species including pelicans, kingfishers and saddle billed storks.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive in Ishasha Sector – Transfer Back to Entebbe or Kampala

Wake up early for a game drive in the Ishasha Sector where you will get a chance to see tree climbing lions and other animals like elephants, lions, buffaloes, cape buffaloes among others. Later bid farewell to the park and embark on a journey back to Kampala where your guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home.
