Detailed itinerary of 6 days Maasai Mara and Rift Valley Lake Nakuru, Naivasha and Bogoria safari
Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Bogoria
After breakfast at your lodge, your safari driver will pick you up and after a short briefing about the day’s activity you will drive northwest to Lake Bogoria, on your way you will drive through the scenic floor of Great Rift Valley where you will be rewarded by scenic views of the escarpments and the magnificent landscape dotted by lakes.
You will arrive in time for lunch which you will have after checking into your lodge then drive to Lake Bogoria – a soda lake famous for being a home millions of flamingoes on the shores of the Lake. These flamingoes are attracted to the lake because of the high salt and mineral content in the waters, you will be mind-blown with the sights of the flamingoes creating a pink hue at the lake and offer great photographic opportunities.
After the experience you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Nakuru
Wake up for breakfast then checkout and set off on a drive heading to Lake Nakuru found in Lake Nakuru national park – an alkaline soda Lake also found on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru is listed among the best bird watching destinations in Kenya hosting millions flamingoes creating a pink hue on the shores.
On you arrival you will check into your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a boat ride of waters of the lake, hile at the lake you will enjoy watching the pink flamingoes and other animals at the shores such as black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, lions, leopards, buffaloes and many more. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Naivasha
Wake up early for morning breakfast, checkout and go for an en-route game drive while exiting Lake Nakuru national park heading to the beautiful Lake Naivasha arriving in lunch time which you will have at your lodge.
After lunch you will go for a nature walk in Crescent Island Game Sanctuary which is located at the peninsular of Lake Naivasha and during the times when the water levels of the lake rises the sanctuary becomes an island. On nature walk experience you will enjoy watching a number of animals such as zebras, antelopes, wildebeests and birds including pelicans, cormorants and many more.
Then you will go to Lake Naivasha for bird watching and boat ride, on the boat ride you will spot a number of birds such as Grey-crested Helmeted-shrike, Basra Reed Warbler, Lesser Flamingo, along with large congregations of Red-knobbed Coot, African Spoonbill, and Little Grebe and many hippos. After the experience you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara
Wake up to the sounds of singing birds, have breakfast then head on a drive to Maasai Mara national reserve, on your way you will have a stopover in the Narok Town for a cultural experience. In this town you will interact with the locals, learn more about their cultures and get to purchase locally made craft pieces and souvenirs such as necklaces, earrings and many more. You will also have lunch in this town.
From Narok town you will proceed to Maasai Mara national reserve the most popular wildlife viewing destination in Kenya, the park is famously known for the annual wildebeest migration and the a number of wildlife species including the big five. When you arrive in the reserve you will go straight for a game drive watching a number of animals such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests and many more. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 5: full day in Masai Mara Reserve
Wake up or breakfast then transfer to Maasai plains for a full day game drive with your packed lunch, on this day you will do morning and afternoon game drive. on the full day game drive you will have ample time to explore various regions of Maasai Mara and get an opportunity to spot a variety of animals such as as lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, rhinos, wildebeests, Thomson and grant’s gazelles, cheetahs, warthogs and many more .
You will have lunch set at a picnic site along the banks of Grumeti or Seronera rivers while enjoying views of animals which come to drink water. After the end of the safari you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 6: departure
Wake up for breakfast, checkout and go for an en-route game drive as you exit the reserve heading back to Nairobi where you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight back home.
