DETAILED ITINERARY OF 6 DAYS BEST OF RWANDA AND TANZANIA SAFARI
Day 1: Kigali – volcanoes national park
Upon your arrival in Kigali at Kigali international airport, you will be met by your safari driver-guide. After a short safari briefing you will begin your drive to Musanze the second largest city in Rwanda taking approximately 1 hour, this city is situated on the foothills surrounding Volcanoes national park a famous safari destination in Rwanda. Depending on your time of arrive, you may have time to visit the Twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo for a boat ride and bird watching. Or visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village, then head to Volcanoes national park, check into your lodge and stay overnight.

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking
After early breakfast at your lodge you will drive to the volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing session, briefing is conducted by the ranger guides and it is meant to take you through the dos and don’ts while in the presence of mountain gorillas. You will also be assigned a gorilla group to trek and hire a porter to assist, then trek into the jungle of volcanoes national park for a once lifetime experience of tracking the huge gentle mountain gorillas.
Mountain gorilla trekking is physically demanding and the experience takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on the mountain gorilla you are trekking requiring a minimum level of fitness for trekkers. When you encounter the mountain gorilla, you will have a close look on these beautiful creatures with in meters distance, observe these dynamic behavior of the beautiful animals, take pictures and get to learn more about their behavior.
At the completion of the experience, you will either return to your lodge for an evening of relaxing or head to Musanze caves for a cave tour. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Kigali – Arusha
After breakfast at your lodge, you will checkout and return to Kigali arriving in time for lunch, you will have lunch at your lodge then go for a complimentary city tour visiting the Genocide memorial, the presidential palace museum and local craft markets.
After the city tour, you will drive to Kigali international airport for your flight to Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha, on your arrival you will be picked up by your safari driver and transfer to your hotel in Arusha for an overnight.

Day 4: Arusha – Lake Manyara national park
After breakfast you will depart Arusha for a drive heading to Lake Manyara national park a famous Tanzania safari destination for tree climbing lions and a huge population of pink flamingoes on the shores of Lake Manyara. The journey from to Lake Manyara national park takes about 2 hours and on your way you will pass through the Market town of Mto Wa Mbu, this town is an agricultural and fresh produce market where you will enjoy local cultures and get an opportunity to buy souvenirs.
After the brief stopover in Mto Wa Mbu, you will proceed to the par and have lunch after checking into your lodge, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive in the savannah and swampy plains of the park. on the game drive you will enjoy watching tree climbing lions lounging on acacia trees, leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, zebras and many bird species such as large flocks of flamingoes on the shores of Lake Manyara, brightly colored lilac breasted roller and many more.
Return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast, you will depart for Ngorongoro Crater an amazing Tanzania safari destination regarded as one of the 8th wonders of the world, Ngorongoro crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera created as a result of volcanic activity. The crater is a home to over 120 mammal species such as the black endangered rhinos, hippos, lions, leopards, hyenas, wildebeests, cheetahs, jackals, antelopes, zebras, elephants, buffaloes and many more which the conservation area one of the Africa’s premier safari destinations.
On your arrival, you will go straight for a game drive in the crater floor watching a number of animals, have picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool then go for another game drive. After the game drive you will return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 6: departure
You will leave your lodge and descend to the crater floor for an early morning game drive searching for predators and early risers such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, African wild dogs and many more. Return to your lodge for late breakfast, checkout and head on a drive returning to Arusha for a drop off either at your hotel or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
