Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda
On arrival at Kigali International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by our guide and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest with border crossing at Cyanika Border. Before you embark on this journey, you will have a short Kigali City tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, the main city market, the former presidential palace, museum and several artisan shops for souvenir shopping.
Along the way, expect to see beautiful rolling hills and lunch. On your arrival in Kibale Forest you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee Guest House (mid-range and budget) and Kyaninga Lodge (luxury).
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After early breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and head to the park offices for briefing about chimpanzee trekking, the rangers will share information about the park, the creatures therein, the chimpanzee clans and how to behave while in the presence of the chimpanzees and what to expect.
Venture into the forest of Kibale looking for chimpanzees, usually the trek takes about 3 to 5 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night. Chimpanzees are easy to trek due to their vocal nature, also their groups are more dramatic compared to mountain gorillas. You will spend one hour with them watching them in full action, taking care of their young ones and jumping from one tree to another. Take as many photos as you wish, then return to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will start your 2 hours journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury), Parkview lodge (mid-range) and Simba safari camp (budget).
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise at the Kazinga Channel
Have an early breakfast and head to the park’s Kasenyi plains for a morning game drives allowing you to catch a glimpse of early risers before they go out hunting, lookout for leopards, lions, and hippos as they return back after grazing outside the water during the night.
The morning is also a good time to spot birds and other animals as they graze, other animals your eyes will feast on include buffaloes, lions, gazelles, elands, hartebeests and other antelopes among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, you will head to Kazinga Channel for boat cruise. The Kazinga channel is a water channel connecting Lake Edward to Lake George. As you cruise, expect to see the largest concentration of hippos in Uganda, crocodiles in the waters, buffaloes and elephants drinking water and several bird species including herons, crested crane among others.

Day 4: Game drive at Ishasha Sector – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a game drive in the Ishasha Sector where you can see the rare tree climbing lions if you have a chance.
With your packed lunch you will continue to Bwindi Forest arriving in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge (Luxury), Buhoma Haven Lodge (Mid-range) and Buhoma Community Camp (Budget).
Day 5: Mountain gorilla tracking in Bwindi – Departure
Have early breakfast and head to the park offices for briefing on gorilla trekking, covering all the important information about mountain gorillas, the trek and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek, enter into the forest looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent their previous night
You will be allowed to spend only one hour observing the gorillas, watch them play, feed and groom, and take amazing pictures. Return to the lodge for lunch, then checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Kigali where you will be dropped off either at the airport or at your hotel.
