Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking in Uganda
Day 1: Fly to Kibale forest National Park
After breakfast, you will be picked from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and be transferred to either Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi airstrip for your domestic flight to Kibale Forest National Park using Kasese Airport.
Upon landing at the airstrip, you will be picked up by our guide and transfer to your lodge in the park, check in and spend the rest of the day at your lodge or have a nature walk in the forest. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Destination: Kibale National Park
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
Start the day with an early morning breakfast, then head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking conducted by a senior ranger who will take you through the rules and regulations to follow. Enter into the forests of Kibale looking for chimpanzees, along the trek you will spot other primates like the baboons, colobus monkeys, forest hogs and many beautiful birds as well as butterflies.
When locate the chimpanzee group you are trekking, you will be permitted to spend one in their presence, take pictures while observing their behavior and how they spend the day in the forests of Kibale. Return back to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will head to the Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary for a forest walk on which you will see many birds, primates such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others. Return to the lodge for your night meal and overnight stay.
Day 3: Fly to Bwindi impenetrable forest
Depending on your flight schedule, after breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and be driven to Kasese Airstrip for your flight to Bwindi’s Kihihi Airstrip. You will spend the rest of the day at your lodge or take an afternoon forest walk.
Have dinner and stay overnight.

Destination: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
Have early breakfast and with your packed lunch and drinking water head to the park’s headquarters (briefing point) where a ranger guide will take you through the rules and regulations to follow on this exciting activity. Be grouped into 8 people and assigned a gorilla family to trek, with your armed ranger guide, you will head into the forests looking for mountain gorillas.
The trek takes approximately 2-6 hours or more depending on the mountain gorilla family you are trekking and the gorillas spent their previous night, during the trek you will see other forest animals including birds, olive baboons among others. When locate the gorilla family you are trekking, you will spend one hour in their presence taking pictures and watching their behavior.
Return to the park’s headquarters, meet your guide and head back to either your lodge for to the Batwa Community for a culture experience. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Fly back to Kampala
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Kihihi Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe International Airport where you will connect for your international flight or meet our guide and be transferred to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
