5 Days Nyerere & Mikumi Safari is a Southern Tanzania safari package offering you an opportunity to explore and enjoy nature and wildlife in both Nyerere national park and Mikumi national park which are some of the unspoilt national park in Tanzania and Africa as well.
Nyerere national park formerly known as Selous Game Reserve is currently the largest national park in Africa, the park hosts the finest unspoiled wilderness and abundance of wildlife.
Mikumi National park is another most sought for destination in the Tanzania southern sector, the park is known for a huge population of African wild dogs and elands as well.
On this safari, animals to look out for include Elephants, Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile and endangered African Wild dog. Commonly seen are pride of Lion, Bush buck, Impala, Warthogs, Ostrich, Giraffe, Eland, Baboon, Zebra, Hyena, Kudu, Rare sable antelope and Leopard. You will also spot more than 400 species of birds including Fish eagle, Kingfisher, Secretary bird, Sunbird, Hammer kop, Red & Yellow bill stork, Open bill stork, Weavers, Water birds, Marabou stork, Vulture’s among others.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 5 DAYS, 4 NIGHTS NYERERE & MIKUMI SAFARI
Day 1: transfer to Nyerere national park
Meet our professional driver-guide in Dar es Salaam at your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Nyerere national park with your lunch box, upon arrival at the lodge you will check in and late afternoon head park for a game drive in search for wildlife inhabiting in the park. Some of the animals to lookout for during the game drive include lions, wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, hippopotamuses, rhinos, antelopes, hyenas, African wolves, among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive (Selous game reserve) & Boat cruise
After early breakfast, proceed to the Selous game drive for a game drive with picnic lunch, game drive experience will give an opportunity to explore the reserve, enjoy scenic views and spot various animals including elephants, giraffes, wild dogs, antelopes, hyenas, giraffes among others.
In the afternoon you will head to Rufiji River for a boat cruise, you will watch crocodiles and hippos in the waters of the river. Many water birds including yellow – bellied storks, kingfishers, lapwings, bee-eaters, fish eagles, palm nut vultures among others. Rufiji river bank is always flocked with large herds of elephants, buffaloes and antelopes and you will watch them drink water. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: walking safari in Nyerere national park
Enjoy breakfast and head to the park for a walking safari offering you an opportunity to explore Nyerere national park and get a close encounter with the eco-system and its rich wildlife and birdlife. This activity is done in company of an armed guide for protection, some of the animals you will encounter during the walking safari include lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, impalas, warthogs, hippos among others. You will also enjoy the beautiful scenery and wilderness in the park, you will have picnic lunch and continue with exploring the park on foot. In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: transfer to Mikumi national park, Game drive
After breakfast, you will exit the park with a morning game drive en-route to Mikumi national park via Morongoro over the Uluguru Mountains across river, you will enjoy views of the local homesteads and farms. Along the way you will have lunch and when you arrive in the park, you will go for a sunset game drive. Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure
Have early morning breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive, enjoy sunrise and spot various animals such as lions, elands, hartebeest, buffalos, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and elephants in the Mikumi flood plain which is the main feature in the park. Return to the lodge for lunch then transfer back to Dar es Salaam for drop off at the airport for your departure flight back home or to your next destination.
