Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking in Uganda
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our driver-guide and after a short briefing about the safari and what to expect. You will embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park.
Along the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for pictures and a chance to stand in Northern and Southern Hemisphere in one place, have another stopover in Fort Portal for lunch and continue to the park while enjoying some of the beautiful landscapes of Uganda. When you will reach in the park, you will check-in at your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
Start the day with an early morning breakfast, then head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking conducted by a senior ranger who will take you through the rules and regulations to follow. Enter into the forests of Kibale looking for chimpanzees, along the trek you will spot other primates like the baboons, colobus monkeys, forest hogs and many beautiful birds as well as butterflies.
When locate the chimpanzee group you are trekking, you will be permitted to spend one in their presence, take pictures while observing their behavior and how they spend the day in the forests of Kibale. Return back to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will head to the Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary for a forest walk on which you will see many birds, primates such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others. Return to the lodge for your night meal and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Have breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will meet the rare and endangered mountain gorillas. You will have lunch along the way and when you arrive in the park, you will have lunch and stay overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
Have early breakfast and with your packed lunch and drinking water head to the park’s headquarters (briefing point) where a ranger guide will take you through the rules and regulations to follow on this exciting activity. Be grouped into 8 people and assigned a gorilla family to trek, with your armed ranger guide, you will head into the forests looking for mountain gorillas.
The trek takes approximately 2-6 hours or more depending on the mountain gorilla family you are trekking and the gorillas spent their previous night, during the trek you will see other forest animals including birds, olive baboons among others. When locate the gorilla family you are trekking, you will spend one hour in their presence taking pictures and watching their behavior.
Return to the park’s headquarters, meet your guide and head back to either your lodge or the Batwa Community for a culture experience. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure to Kampala
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge. Depart from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch and a brief stop at the equator monument. When you arrive in Kampala, you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your flight back home.
