This 11 Days Great Migration Safari offers you an incredible chance to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration as it takes place in the endless plains of Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti Wildebeest Migration is a 800 kilometer trek of over 2 million wildebeest herds accompanied by thousands of Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles.
The timing of the migration coincides with greening of nutritious grasses on the short-grass plains during the wet season.

Detailed itinerary of 11 Days Great Migration Safari
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park with your picnic lunch boxes. When you arrive in the park, you will enjoy a game drive before you check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Tarangire National Park is one of the most popular Tanzania national parks in the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit, the park is home to one of the largest herds of elephants in Tanzania and its beautiful landscape is dotted with iconic Baobab Trees. Other animals you will see in the park include buffaloes, zebras, leopards, giraffes, antelopes, lions, leopards and several bird species.

Day 2: Karatu
After breakfast you will drive towards Karutu, stopping en route at Mto wa Mbu, a culturally vibrant town for a market visit. The Karatu area gives you the opportunity to experience a variety of different activities. Learn about a multitude of things and see different side of Tanzania before checking into your accommodations close to the Ngorongoro Crater rim for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Central Serengeti
Have an early breakfast and head to Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is a natural enclosure supporting 20,000 – 30,000 animals that is why it is referred to as a Noah’s Ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. The crater is considered one of the natural wonders of the world and has the highest densities of predators in AFRICA such as lions, hyenas and leopards. The crater is also one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered black rhino.
In the afternoon, slowly begin the climb out of the crater and head toward Central Serengeti for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4-5: Central Serengeti
Spend these two full days in the incredibly beautiful Central Serengeti which is famed for its terrific cat sightings. As you progress well into the Serengeti’s endless plains, you will see several animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, gazelles, elands, giraffes and elephants among others.
In addition to game drives done in traditional vehicle safari, you can do hot – air ballooning over the Serengeti Plains. Enjoy aerial view of the plains and animals.
These days are very flexible with your preferences and days will be organized according to your wishes. On every day of the safari, your guide will discuss with you the best timings for you, including the game drives and the wake up time. For example, you could do a morning game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation and end with an afternoon game drive, or you could do a full day game drive with picnic lunch.

Day 6-9: Northern Serengeti
Head to Northern Serengeti by the Mara River where the grass is rich in nutrients and capable of offering the migratory herds a proper supply of food and water. This is the time and place to witness the famous Mara River Crossings. See giant Nile crocodiles basking in the sun, waiting patiently in the water for the big migration to enter the area. You will opportunities to catch thrilling game action or perhaps even witness a river crossing, as the wildebeests and zebras face one of the most difficult parts of their migration journey and cross over to Masai Mara. Spend four days following the migration.

Day 10: Northern Serengeti – Arusha
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast or head out for a short morning game drive, exit the park and embark on a journey back to Arusha, where your guide will drop you off at the hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.
Overnight at Original Maasai Lodge
Day 11: Departure
Have breakfast and spend your day at leisure. In the afternoon, meet your private guide and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), and catch your departure flight back home.
